Our Practice

INSURANCE DEFENSE/CIVIL LITIGATION

Our practice extends throughout the greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, and we are strategically located in Arlington, equal distance from both the Dallas and the Tarrant County courthouses. We serve our clients in the defense of civil matters, with an emphasis on property and casualty, as well as first and third party insurance defense claims. We keep abreast of the ever-changing areas of bad faith, insurance fraud, and protection of the insurers’ interests in collusive third party claims.

In addition to the vigorous defense of lawsuits, we provide support services to our clients by conducting examinations under oath, counseling on coverage questions as well as apprising our clients of developments in, and the application of, case law and legislation. We also provide monthly up-to-date advisories to our clients at no charge.

We manage lawsuits by maintaining close communication with our insured clients as well as their insurers. In the defense of third party claims, we hold the insured’s interests paramount. While protecting that interest vigilantly, we also proactively control litigation costs for insurers without compromising quality representation.

We remain small by choice to ensure better service to our clients. Because all of the firm’s attorneys are experienced litigators, a file assigned to a particular attorney remains with that attorney until its conclusion and receives the personal attention of that particular attorney. This results in a significant cost savings and ensures consistent, effective representation.

We have authored and presented to our clients several courses approved for continuing education credit by the Texas Department of Insurance, and remain eager to do so at no charge. Members of the firm have also published articles in Bad Faith Reporter and For the Defense, a publication of the national Defense Research Institute, as well as law review articles one in particular dealing with premises liability for third-party criminal assaults. We have also authored Texas Standard Automobile Insurance Policy Annotated first published in 1999 by Texas Lawyer Press, which is currently in its thirteenth edition. Members of the firm are frequently asked to give seminars and lectures both by private organizations, the State Bar of Texas, the University of Houston, South Texas College of Law, and numerous insurance related service organizations.

The attorneys at The Colaneri Firm are members of the following organizations: Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, American Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Tarrant County Bar Association, Arlington Bar Association, and American Board of Trial Advocacy. In addition to being licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas, we are also admitted to appear before the United States District Courts and the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals as well as Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.

MEDIATION

The Colaneri Firm stands ready to meet your mediation needs. We offer half day, full day and two-hour mediations. Our extensive trial experience gives us a realistic view of the potential outcomes of most cases and allows us to speak with credibility and knowledge when mediating a settlement. Our experience in the insurance defense field allows us to communicate with Plaintiffs, Defendants and/or claims professionals about the true positives and negatives of their position and the potential outcome should the case go to trial.
